The 90‑Second Reset Between Games: A Routine for Tight Moments

A simple between-games routine that keeps intensity, footwork, and decision-making stable — especially when you’re trying to close a set.

You get 90 seconds between games.

Most players waste it.

They:

  • Replay mistakes
  • Check the scoreboard
  • Rush the towel

But between-game time is where matches stabilise.

It’s your control window.

The 90-Second Structure

0–20 Seconds: Physiology

  • Slow breathing (4 in, 6 out)
  • Shoulders down
  • Walk tall

Reset body first.

20–50 Seconds: Tactical Anchor

Ask:

  • What pattern is working?
  • Where am I winning territory?
  • What is my opponent struggling with?

One answer only. Not three.

50–80 Seconds: Technical Non-Negotiable

Pick one:

  • Early prep
  • Full extension
  • Step inside on return

Lock it in.

Final 10 Seconds: Intent

  • Stand up before time is called.
  • Look at your target.
  • Visualise one aggressive action.

Why This Works

Pressure compresses thinking. Structure expands clarity.

This prevents execution drift before it begins.
